Juvenile membership - Terms & Conditions

PictureWhat is the Kildare League?
  • Juvenile Athletes whose membership is not up to date are not entitled to train with the club and will not be eligible to be entered in competitions.
  • Like any sports club, all Juveniles are reasonably expected to participate in competition events throughout the year but the club especially expects our young members to attend the annual Kildare League.
  • Due to the high demand of places in certain age groups, juvenile members who do not show up for training for over 4 consecutive weeks without an adequate reason for their absence, or similarly, those who never participate competition events, especially the Kildare League, may be at risk of losing their place.

Adult membership - Terms & Conditions

Complete beginner adult runners
  • We recommend that you come through our Couch to 5km programme which is a separate short term membership.
This is available in January for 7 weeks only.
  • Being able to run a distance of 5km is just a guideline for joining the running club, but is not mandatory though. If you feel you have a fitness level that you can comfortably keep up with the group runs or track strength & conditioning sessions, or then please feel free to join the club at any time.
Annual Running Club members
  • Make yourself familiar with the Athletics Ireland club affiliation three year rule and club transfer guidelines prior to joining.
  • It is not mandatory for Adult running club members to enter race and running competitions, but if they do, they must be registered with Athletics Ireland and wear our club singlet when representing their club at any official Athletics Ireland event.

Instructions to join the Juvenile waiting list:

PictureClick above to join list
Due to the high demand in certain age categories, sometimes Clane AC have to operate a waiting list for new juvenile members in certain age groups - most commonly in the U9s, U10s & U11s age groups.

Our team of coaches are constantly reviewing the age groups and coach allocation to see if we have more space available.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Follow the "Join our waiting list" link via the red button to register your childs/childrens interest.
Although you will be registering through the Athletics Ireland registration portal initially, please be reassured that no payment is required a this step. This is only phase one of the process.

Our club registrar will then be alerted, and can review your online application. If there is no place available, your Athletics Ireland application will not be 'activated' and instead, it will be placed 'on hold'.
Your child will be placed on our club registrars juvenile waiting list
(This is a hand written list - you will not be sent an email)

If there is a place available, our registrar can then "activate" your Athletics Ireland application.

You will then receive an autogenerated email directly from Athletics Ireland and you will be able to continue to the next step to formally register your child/children with the club.
Payment will be required at this next step

Athletics Ireland club affiliation:

For Athletics Ireland/Clane AC registered members
- both Adult & Juvenile:

Being an official member of an Athletics Ireland affiliated club such as Clane Athletic club means you are automatically bound to that specific athletics club as an Athletics Ireland member for a period of 3 years.

In other words, if you register with Clane AC, Athletics Ireland will allocate Clane AC as your designated athletics club for a period of three years, even if you don't actually renew your membership after the 1st or 2nd year after joining.

This rule applies to any Athletics Ireland club you register with in Ireland. You are tied to your chosen club for a period of 3 years.
This rule was put in place by Athletics Ireland to impede larger, competitive clubs from easily poaching high performance athletes from other clubs. It obstructs the practice of "cherry picking" athletes, either juvenile or adult, to enhance the success of their own club.

If you wish to change to another Athletics Ireland affiliated club within 3 years of joining Clane AC, you will need to apply for a club transfer which must be be approved at county board level.

For this reason we do not recommend complete beginner runners / Couch to 5km participants join via the Athletics Ireland registration link in case they decide they would not like to continue with the club or running, or because they may want do a different running programme elsewhere with another Athletics Ireland local club within three years.
It eliminates the requirement for having to do formal club transfers.

These club transfer applications are only processed twice yearly by Athletics Ireland. This can be frustrating for people who want to do a different programme with another club, but can't, as they have to wait until their transfer is processed.
