*TERMS AND CONDITIONS PRIOR TO REGISTERING*
For Adult members:
Adult training sessions are on Tuesday and Thursdays at 8pm on the track.
Note: At present, only adults who can run 5km+ comfortably (this is just a guideline distance - it's not mandatory!) or alternatively, if they believe they have a fitness level to confidently & safely join in with the adult track sessions i.e strength & conditioning and interval sessions, then they can join the club at any time.
Noting the important caveat detailed below about Athletic Ireland affiliated membership, and if you are confidant & happy to train with the club for the full year, knowing the information below, you should join the club via the formal annual Athletics Ireland membership registration link above.
CAVEAT - Important note for Athletics Ireland/Clane AC registered members - both Adult & Juvenile:
Being an official member of an Athletics Ireland affiliated club such as Clane Athletic club means you are automatically bound to that specific athletics club as an Athletics Ireland member for a period of 3 years.
In other words, if you register with Clane AC, Athletics Ireland will allocate Clane AC as your designated athletics club for a period of three years, even if you don't actually renew your membership after the 1st or 2nd year after joining.
This rule applies to any Athletics Ireland club you register with in Ireland. You are tied to your chosen club for a period of 3 years.
This rule was put in place by Athletics Ireland to impede larger, competitive clubs from easily poaching high performance athletes from other clubs. It obstructs the practice of "cherry picking" athletes, either juvenile or adult, to enhance the success of their own club.
If you wish to change to another Athletics Ireland affiliated club within 3 years of joining Clane AC, you will need to apply for a club transfer which must be be approved at county board level - see the paragraph on "Club Transfers" at the bottom of this page for more information.
For this reason we do not recommend complete beginner runners / Couch to 5km participants join via the Athletics Ireland registration link in case they decide they would not like to continue with the club or running, or because they may want do a different running programme elsewhere with another Athletics Ireland local club within 3 years. It eliminates the requirement for having to do formal club transfers. These club transfer applications can be tedious and are only processed twice yearly by Athletics Ireland. This can be frustrating for people who want to do a different programme with another club, but can't, as they have to wait until their transfer is processed.
Complete beginner adult runners are recommended to come through our Couch to 5km programme which is a separate registration via "Club Zap". This is a short term temporary club membership.
Couch to 5km sessions are Monday and Wednesday at 8pm on the track for 7 weeks only
(This programme usually starts in the 2nd week in January for 7 weeks....the training distance progresses weekly and so you cannot join midway through the programme)
However, if you truly believe you are a bit more than just a complete beginner, and have enough fitness that you feel can safely keep up with the group track sessions, then please feel free to join the club at any time.
But please bear in mind the details listed clearly above, regarding the rules for signing up for the year as an Athletics Ireland affiliated full time Clane Athletic Club member.
IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT JUVENILE MEMBERSHIP:
Juvenile Athletes whose membership is not up to date are not entitled to train with the club and will not be eligible to be entered in competitions.
Like any sports club, all Juveniles are reasonably expected to participate in competition events throughout the year but the club especially expects our young members to attend the annual Kildare League.
The Kildare League is an enjoyable annual club event for our young athletes to compete against other Kildare clubs in the area.
The competition days are spread out over 3 or 4 days during the Springtime months and all our juvenile members are required to attend each of the designated league days and participate in two events.
Due to the high demand of places in certain age groups, juvenile members who do not show up for training for over 4 consecutive weeks without an adequate reason for their absence, or similarly, those who never participate competition events, especially the Kildare League, may be at risk of losing their place.
For Juvenile members:

Due to the high demand in certain age categories, sometimes Clane AC have to operate a waiting list for new juvenile members in certain age groups - most commonly in the U9s, U10s & U11s age groups.
Our team of coaches are constantly reviewing the age groups and coach allocation to see if we have more space available.
Our club registrar will review your application and if there is no place available, your child will be placed on the list, or if we have a place available he will be in touch with you immediately.
Click on the "Join our waiting list" button below to register your interest online via the ""Child Membership Application" button on the Athletics Ireland page.

Instructions on how to join the waiting list:

When you follow the "Join our waiting list" link via the red button to register your childs interest, no payment is required. This is just the first step in the process. You will not be able to proceed until your application is approved by the club.
Our club registrar, Niall Heffernan, will review your online application and if there is no place available, your application will not be 'activated' and instead, your child will be placed on the clubs waiting list.
If there is a place available, our registrar will "activate" your application, and you will be able to continue to the next step to formally register your child with the club.
When your application has been 'activated' you will receive an autogenerated email from Athletics Ireland notifying you that your application is approved, and you can now proceed to the next step online.
Payment will be required at this next step.
