Welcome to Clane Athletic Club website!
Located in the historic village of Clane, Co.Kildare, our club is one of Ireland’s newest athletic clubs. The club, which is completely volunteer-led, was reformed in 2012 with the principal aim of promoting athletics, for all ages, in the village and environs of Clane.
Our coaches and athletes have worked hard over the past 5 years to build the club into a strong, reputable club and we are very proud to have won and held onto our Kildare "A League" status for the past two years.
Our club is proud to be affiliated to the Irish governing body for athletics; the Athletics Association of Ireland.
We place a strong emphasis on community, and encourage the development of athletic skills, in a fun, friendly and sociable environment.
We're based at Scoil Mhuire, Clane Community School.
New members are welcome!
Clane AC is a volunteer based club. We are always looking for and welcome more coaching volunteers.
Having more volunteer coaches means the club can open up spaces to allow more children to train.
Please contact us if you are a parent of a child on the waiting list, and think you might like to help out by assisting our existing coaches?
Full mentorship by the club will be provided and new coaches will be sent on A.A.I certified coaching courses and first aid safety classes also paid for by the club.
*Childrens safety is off utmost importance to us, so all coaches/assistants/committee members require full Garda Vetting and must sign a club code of conduct form. This process is overseen by our Child welfare officers.
2018 training schedule.
2018 Training for all U8s, U9s, U10s and all other non-competing members:
***Return date still to be decided.***
Kildare Indoor Championships training:
Special dedicated training will resume on
Tuesday 9th January 2018
only for members who intend to take part in the Kildare Indoor championships in late January.
(this applies to U11 age groups and upwards only)
Please do not bring your child down on Tuesday 9th January or Thursday 11th January to train, if they do not intend to compete in the Kildare Indoor Championships.
It is unfair on the competing children and their coaches, who need to dedicate their time to focus on this special training.
2018 Registration evenings:
We held two registration evenings for returning 2017 members at the beginning of January. They are now completed and our team of coaches will be reviewing all the registrations and allocating the age groups accordingly and seeing if we have more space available.
We will know early next week if we have any places to release for those on the new 2018 waiting list and we will be in touch as soon as we know.
Clane AC welcomes its 2018 members from 6 years of age (i.e born in 2011 - the child must be 6yrs old by 01 January of that year and turning age 7 at some point during the same calendar year)
These younger members are introduced to athletics through the “Little Athletics” / “Junior Athletics” programmes, where they learn the basics of Agility, Balance and Coordination and progress to learning the skills and techniques involved in the core athletic disciplines of running, jumping, throwing and walking.
